Health, safety & wellbeing

The safety of our clients, contractors, employees, their families and our communities is our number one priority.

Safety

Health and Safety is built into every aspect of Zinfra’s operations from engineering design, planning, project management, asset management, maintenance and construction, through to project completion. Caring for our people and the environment by providing a safe and sustainable workplace is a fundamental principle for Zinfra.

We achieve this through an integrated mix of effective leadership, risk management and systems; taking responsibility for our actions and engaging with our workforce so that they own Zinfra’s ‘Safety First’ value.

‘Safety First’ is fully embraced by Zinfra. It is a firm belief with commitment from the Board, the Executive and senior management, that with the correct systems, leadership and management of hazards in place, no one should sustain a work-related injury whilst undertaking work for Zinfra.

Our HSEQ Management systems are the logic and provide the comprehensive structure to achieve this. This includes training, safe operating procedures, monitoring by qualified supervisors and reporting processes to ensure safety at all times.
We actively support good health initiatives and offer professional care programs for our people..

Certifications

At Zinfra, we ensure our work is delivered safely, sustainably and meets regulatory requirements. All our business management systems are certified.

In addition to this, we are accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme - OFSC Accreditation. This covers specific scopes of work related to major projects.

Quality

Our key quality management objective is to ‘get it right the first time’ by delivering services to meet our client’s expectations, safely. We take pride in a job well done.

We are focused on the ongoing development of our people and implementing a culture that fosters a continuous improvement environment. This will be achieved by encouraging our people to take ownership of work practices, pride in their work and responsibility for the results.

Zinfra recognises that operational quality benchmarks are not static and that internal standards must be continually raised in order to ensure service standards remain high.

Quality is a vital part of our success. Testament to the effectiveness of our quality management system and dedication of our people is a demonstrated track record of outstanding results on some of the most complex and high profile utility and infrastructure projects.

Environment

Zinfra applies an environmental management framework to the design, construction and
commissioning phases of our service delivery, as well as to our business operations and facilities.
The framework provides a corporate and operational structure, and specific actions which allow us to meet environmental objectives and targets, and reduce our environmental impact.
Our environmental and sustainability strategy includes the following:

  • Embedding sustainability principles into design, construction and operations across the whole project lifecycle or where the project scope allows

  • Benchmarking sustainability performance against the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating scheme

  • Providing a consistent and uniform approach that assures the required standards of environmental protection are attained and maintained across all levels of the business

  • Complying with all relevant Commonwealth and State Environmental Legislation and Regulations

  • Defining the methodology for environmental assessment and risk control

  • Establishing specific controls required for environmental management systems

  • Outlining actions to be carried out by employees on site, ensuring acceptable environmental protection standards are maintained

  • Providing clients, stakeholders and regulators with verification the required environmental protection standards are being achieved

We are committed to lowering our carbon footprint through innovation and identifying opportunities to work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve this aim.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands upon which we operate and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
