In mid-2018, Jemena successfully bid to build, own and operate the Atlas Gas Processing Plant and Pipeline (AGPP) in a competitive tender process, connecting Senex’s new ‘Atlas’ gas field in the Surat Basin in south-east Queensland with Jemena’s Darling Downs Pipeline (DDP) and the Wallumbilla Gas Hub - the largest gas hub in the country.

Jemena was selected as Senex’s preferred partner because it proposed the most cost effective and direct pathway to the domestic gas market. Jemena’s solution also leverages the DDP which provides direct access to the Wallumbilla gas hub and offers Senex flexibility to sell its gas to a broad range of Australian gas customers.

The Atlas gas field is the first of 13 gas exploration tenements awarded by the Queensland Government as part of a broader move to fast-track the development of new gas to the domestic market. Zinfra constructed the AGPP on an expedited schedule in order to deliver first gas by the end of 2019.

The gas plant is designed to receive Senex’s raw coal seam methane and then compress and dehydrate the gas to meet specifications for transport along a 60km, 8 inch, high pressure steel gas pipeline connecting the Atlas field to Wallumbilla via the DDP.

WHAT WAS ZINFRA’S ROLE ON THE PROJECT?
Zinfra had overall responsibility for execution of the project on behalf of Jemena. This included project management, engineering management including coordinating the interfaces between the various design packages, major equipment procurement including line pipe and compressor packages, construction management, commissioning, development of operations and maintenance systems and handover of the commissioned equipment to Jemena’s asset management group.
