Zinfra partners with AUSSEF to take Australia’s top STEM school students onto the world stage

As part of Zinfra’s Corporate Social Responsibility program we have signed on as a sponsor of the Australian Science and Engineering Fair (AUSSEF), a national fair for Australia’s top STEM students and the only pathway for year 9-12 students to represent Australia on the world stage at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Ohio, USA, in May 2025.

A testament to the educational attainment standards being achieved within Australia, at ISEF 2024, five out of the nine Australian projects included won Grand Awards, meaning they finished in the top 25 percent of all entries from around the world. The competition is open to all schools across Australia with winning projects receiving an all-expenses-paid trip to America to compete at ISEF.

Peter Iancov, Zinfra Managing Director commented, “Partnerships like these are important to us as we aim to inspire and enhance future generations of STEM leaders and provide opportunities for future careers. It is our hope that students who put in the hard work and participate in these types of programs become the next generation of Zinfra’s engineering graduates, trainees or apprentices. With mentorship from our team members, we’d welcome the opportunity to shape these future STEM stars into highly successful professionals leading Australia’s future energy transition”

Stuart Garth, AUSSEF Coordinator commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Zinfra as a sponsor for AUSSEF 2024. Without our corporate partners we simply couldn’t showcase the depth and breadth of talent we have within our STEM students in Australia on the world stage. Our aim is to give every Australian student an opportunity to have this life changing experience and then return home to inspire other future STEM stars.”

One such student is 18 year old Rahul Kumar of Brisbane who was selected to represent Australia at ISEF for two consecutive years.

Commenting on the AUSSEF experience Rahul said, “Being given the opportunity to represent Australia on the international stage at ISEF was an incredible experience I will never forget. Meeting and networking with like-minded peers from all around the world, along with receiving invaluable feedback from qualified judges, has really opened my eyes as to what is possible from a career in this sector.

Partnerships like these are crucial to our mission of inspiring and empowering the next generation of STEM leaders while creating valuable career opportunities for the future. To find out more, visit https://aussef.com.au/
