The high voltage upgrade project being delivered by head contractor Zinfra at the Puckapunyal Military Base in Victoria has hit a long awaited milestone with the delivery of two 22kV ABB switchboards.

The equipment had a longer than expected journey from its country of manufacture, Italy, arriving two months later than scheduled.

A lot of work has been hanging on the switchboards’ arrival and crews can now get on with the tasks of internal wiring and testing of the equipment.

Zinfra Managing Director, Steve MacDonald, welcomed the news of the switchboards' arrival, commenting it is "a significant milestone in a project that continues to do well."

The high voltage (HV) upgrade works are required to meet the current and future energy demand within the Defence estate at Puckapunyal and are scheduled for completion early next year.
