Mr Yi Tong

Deputy Executive General Manager

Mr. Yi (Tony) Tong is a professional engineer and accomplished executive manager with over 20 years’ experience in the electric power industry, internationally. Through his extensive tenure at numerous State Grid Corporation China (SGCC) subsidiaries, he has garnered a wealth of knowledge in development, investment and construction of electric greenfield projects.

At Jemena/Zinfra Mr Tong is responsible for marketing development, leveraging his extensive expertise and insights to drive the company's strategic growth.

Prior to joining Jemena/Zinfra, Mr Tong was a Vice President of State Grid International Development Australia Co. Ltd. (SGID) from 2021-2022, and serves as a board director of the ElectraNet.

Mr Tong’s exceptional leadership and project management abilities are exemplified by his comprehensive oversight of the full life-cycle of large-scale electric power projects, such as the Belo Monte UHV transmission projects in Brazil, encompassing all phases from initial development, finance, design, procurement, construction to ultimate operation. Throughout this period, he also spearheaded supply chain management for the company's centralised procurement operations and played a pivotal role in expanding its presence in the overseas greenfield market.

Mr. Tong obtained a Master's degree in Engineering from North China Electric Power University. Is distinguished by having received the accolade of Leading Talent of SGCC. He is a member of the National Construction Supervisor and Constructor (1st Class), and a special expert by the Arbitration Committee of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
