Meet our second year Graduate Project Engineer Alex Batir

Alex joined our graduate program in April 2022 and since then has had multiple opportunities to work on various projects and learn from industry experts and leaders in the field.

In the time so far, Alex was lucky enough to have ownership of a project in the metering and service function, where he managed the day to day activities, was given responsibility to make decisions and liaise with field crews, and developed critical thinking and planning skills.

Another highlight for Alex has been getting amongst the field work and field crews in the electricity function where he’s been able to be ‘on site’ and get hands on experience.  “From pole removals/installations to underground connections, the hands on experience offers a different perspective to the work done in the office and helps to solidify your knowledge”.

The flexibility of the program has also enabled Alex to modify things along the way, where he’s been able to focus on certain parts of the business that have piqued his interest, in addition to having work-life balance.
