Supporting Emergency work in QLD

Well done to our Queensland Zinfra teams who since Christmas have supported our client Energy Queensland to get 130,000 homes and businesses back on supply after being hit by severe storms.

While many spent the holidays relaxing with family and friends, hundreds of South East Queensland residents were cut off from their energy and our field crews were there as soon as needed, responding quickly to the crisis.

The emergency situation saw a true team effort between Energy Queensland, Emergency Services Qld and Zinfra, where teams worked for over 14 days as part of the restoration process.  This included working across farmland, beaches and mountains to rebuild 𝟭𝟮𝟬 kms of powerline, 𝟭𝟱𝟬 new poles and 𝟱𝟬𝟬 cross arms.

“In such emergency situations our teams work in unpredictable surroundings with increased risks such as falling debris, changing weather and displaced animals. I thank our team for displaying safety first so diligently looking after themselves, teammates and the community to restore this Queensland community to power”, says Kevin Moloney, General Manager Power Services North.

Thank you again to everyone involved – it was an enormous task!

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands upon which we operate and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
